THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

This next song is a cheap, oily and rather nasty attempt to cull the majority of votes in the  Eurovision Song Contest by ingratiating ourselves with everybody:

I’d like to spend a long weekend in PORTUGAL,

Although I love the NETHERLANDS as well.
And I’ve always thought that NORWAY

Was simply heaven’s doorway,
When I'm not underneath the spell. of BEL – GIUM.
I’d simply die to up and fly to AUSTRIA
Or IRELAND, but below the ULSTER line.

I’ve always spoken prettily
Of happy times in ITALY
And naturally FINLAND is divine.

You can always find romance
Any time you are in FRANCE
And, of course, my favourite river is the RHINE

- Hallo, there GERMANY!

I've always thought MONACO
Was positively wacko
And YUGOSLAVIA is a friend of mine.
You can do some fancy feedin’

In SWITZERLAND and SWEDEN

And in SPAIN they make a lot of lovely wine.

Yes, and as for dear old LUXEMBOURG …
We can always do without one vote, can’t we?

Wherever you may tour,
You can always be quite sure,

“Be it ever so harmful”,

There's no place like EUROPE.

P.S. Notwithstanding Marty Feldman's rather condescending treatment of Luxembourg in this song,  it was Luxembourg
(with a population that corresponds roughly to that of Nuremberg minus
Erlangen plus Forchheim = a little bit over
300 000 inhabitants)
that came first in the 1983 contest!!!
